Women

On Nov. 19 the women’s cross country squad finished 11th at the NCAA Championships in Winneconne, Wis.
The 12th-ranked Lord Jeffs finished behind fellow NESCAC teams Middlebury and Williams, the second- and third-place finishers, respectively, in the field of 32 teams.

Standout Keri Lambert ’13 led the Jeffs with a time of 21:12.68 in the 6 kilometer race, placing fifth individually and becoming the first Amherst top-ten finisher at NCAA in three years.

Lambert, who was named a NESCAC Performer of the Week twice in 2011, paced the Jeffs in every 2011 race in which she participated, including a first-place finish at the Williams Purple Valley Classic in Sept.

Directly behind Lambert was Ali Simeone ’13, who finished second for the Jeffs in all of her races this year, clocking in at 22:03.04.

Melissa Sullivan ’12 took third for Amherst, while Sarah Daly ’13 finished fourth.

Men

Though the men’s team did not earn a trip to the NCAA Championships, Andrew Erskine ’13 did receive an individual at-large selection to compete.

Erskine, who placed sixth at the New England Regional finals, finished 183rd out of 279 with a time of 25:49.76.

The highest men’s individual NESCAC finisher was Bowdoin sophomore Coby Horowitz, who came in eighth, while the best team performance belonged to Williams, which placed sixth.
