With a strong core of returning players, the Amherst men’s hockey team is poised for a successful 2017-2018 campaign. The Mammoths hope to improve upon last year’s overall record of 14-7-3, which culminated in a NESCAC quarterfinal appearance.

“We definitely have high expectations for ourselves this season,” two-time captain Thomas Lindstrom ’18 said. “There has always been a lot of parity in NESCAC hockey, but with the experience and number of veterans we have, we expect to have a successful season and compete for a top spot in the conference.”

Last week, the Amherst College men’s soccer team played three tough matches, with two of the three battles going into overtime. Recording two wins and one loss, the Mammoths are now 4-2-2 in NESCAC play and sit comfortably fourth in the league standings.

This past weekend, the Mammoths traveled to Maine for a doubleheader against Colby and Bates. Amherst suffered only their second loss of the season on Saturday, as the Mules managed to pull out a 2-1 overtime victory.

The Amherst women’s lacrosse team extended its win streak to six after victories over Babson College and Bates this past week. The Mammoths now boast an impressive overall record of 13-1 and are currently ranked No. 1 in the nation.
“We had two great wins this week, and we’re working to keep getting better going towards a really important last regular season game,” senior captain Rowena Schenck said. “Our goal is to peak at the right time and be our strongest headed into the post-season.”
