Women’s Indoor Track Breaks Two School Records

Junior Lauren Almeida placed eighth in the 1,000-meter run and ran for the fourt

The women’s indoor track team placed ninth in a field of 41 teams at the New England Div. III Championships, hosted by Smith. The Jeffs broke two school records and posted numerous personal-best times.

The Jeffs’ had a strong day of relays. The sprinters impressed in the 4x200. Although they placed 11th, Abraelle Shirley ’15, Shyloe Jones ’14, Jade McKnight ’12 and Beth Hall ’14 set a new school record in the event, besting the previous 15-year-old cut by .6 seconds.

The distance medley relay team of Lisa Walker ’14, Itai Brand-Thomas ’15, Ellen Richmond ’12 and Amy Dao ’14 placed third. Lauren Almeida ’13, Melissa Sullivan ’12, Richmond and Keri Lambert ’13 finished fourth in the 4x800.

Sophomore sprinter Naomi Bates continued her successful season with a personal best in the 60-meter dash for a third-place finish and earned fifth place in the 200.

Lambert and Lizzy Briskin ’15 both set personal records in the mile, finishing fourth and 13th, respectively. Abby Hopper ’13 ran her personal best in the 5,000.

Lambert placed fifth in the 800, and Almeida finished eighth in the 1,000. Senior Jordan Roehl broke her own school record in the weight throw. The Jeffs hit the track again next weekend at the Open New England Championships.
