Amherst women’s soccer posted its eighth and ninth shutouts of the year, drawing Wesleyan 0-0 on Saturday Oct. 19th and beating Conn. College 4-0 last Wednesday. The results extended the Jeffs’ unbeaten streak to eight games and moved them to 9-1-3 overall and 5-1-3 in the NESCAC.
The Amherst women’s soccer team is continuing to find a rhythm, picking up three more wins in the past few days to run their winning streak to six games. The streak came on the heels of the Jeffs’ defeat at the hands of Tufts, their only loss of the year, and has included five road victories.
Amherst secured the only home victory of the streak last Tuesday, when they beat Eastern Conn. State 4-1. The Jeffs dominated the game, holding an overwhelming 30-6 advantage in shots. Megan Kim ’16 scored twice, and Sarah Duffy ’14 and Hannah Cooper ’14 added tallies.
Amherst women’s soccer, lifted by their sixth and seventh shutouts of the year, collected two away wins this week, defeating Mount Holyoke 4-0 and Hamilton 2-0.
The Jeffs owned a 2-1-2 NESCAC record entering Saturday’s clash with Hamilton, a mark that reflected the tense nature of their previous conference games; only one of which failed to go to overtime.
Hamilton entered the game with a 1-2-1 conference record.
Amherst threatened early when the Hamilton defense misplayed a back pass, leading to a shot on Continental goalkeeper Liza Gergenti.
Amherst women’s soccer split a pair of NESCAC games this weekend, falling 2-1 in overtime to Tufts Saturday and knocking off Bates on Sunday 3-0. Saturday’s defeat was their first on the year, but Sunday’s win moved them to 3-1-2 overall, and 2-1-2 in the NESCAC.
