Amherst women’s track and field competed in the third annual Sunshine Classic at Tufts this Saturday, April 21, in preparation for its upcoming postseason. Competing against a deep Tufts roster, along with several other non-conference opponents, the women racked up 62 points to earn a fourth-place finish at the seven-team meet.

The Amherst women’s track and field team enjoyed a successful interterm, kicking off their season with two major meets.
Although the team finished third in the Little Three Championship meet behind NESCAC rivals Williams and Wesleyan, the purple and white saw numerous promising individual performances. Wesleyan hosted the meet on Jan. 14, where Amherst tallied 72 points to Wesleyan’s 94 and Williams’ 169.

The Amherst men’s basketball team impressed last weekend in the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division III tournament, pulling out victories in two close games to advance to the Sweet 16 this Friday. The men took on Husson University last Friday night in LeFrak and then a very talented 21-8 SUNY Cortland team on Saturday evening in two nail-biters.
