The men’s hockey team has skated to an impressive start to the season, compiling a 12-3-1 record (9-1-0 NESCAC) to surge to the top of the conference standings. The Jeffs are currently tied with Bowdoin (8-2-2 NESCAC) in the race for the No. 1 seed, but Amherst holds two games in hand.
Before a 3-0 loss to Utica on Saturday, the Jeffs collected a 12-2-1 record in their first 15 games. The 25 points accumulated in that span marked the program’s highest point total through 15 games since the 1998-99 season.

With solid team defense, stellar goaltending and a healthy dose of grit, the men’s hockey team earned two hard-fought victories this weekend, defeating Wesleyan 3-2 before edging out Trinity 2-1 on Sunday.
The team’s 5-1-0 record (3-0-0 NESCAC) marks the program’s best six-game start to a season since 2006.

The Jeffs began this year’s winter campaign with a 2-0 victory over Hamilton two weekends ago, then sustained that momentum by thrashing Westfield State 8-1 the following Tuesday. This past weekend, Amherst competed in the Cape Cod Lighthouse Invitational (hosted by Babson). The Jeffs defeated Salem State 5-1 before suffering their first loss of the year to Hobart, falling 3-1 in the tournament finals.
After a grueling preseason of intense lifting workouts and breakneck skating drills, the men’s ice hockey team is looking to improve on last year’s 12-9-4 record and challenge for the NESCAC title this winter. The Jeffs start their campaign with a home tilt against Hamilton on Friday night.
