Men
This past weekend the men’s golf team traveled through the Berkshires to play in the Williams Invitational. Competing on a tough course, the Jeffs managed to finish in sixth place out of a 24 team field. Junior Jarvis Sill ’15, who finished in a tie for seventh, led the team with a strong individual performance.

On day one, Sill finished with a score of 76, followed by a score of 75 on Sunday, giving him a two-day score of 141. Harrison Marrick ’17 finished second on the team with a two-day score of 155, while senior captain Nicholas Koh ’13 was the team’s third place finisher. On Sunday, Koh dropped an impressive three shots off his day-one scorecard.

Rival Williams won the 24-team tournament, but the Jeffs are remaining positive for this upcoming weekend’s tournament.

“The team played well overall, especially on Sunday when the conditions were tougher,” Sill said. “This was one of the most difficult courses we are going to play all year, particularly on the greens. The high finish this weekend gives us a lot of confidence heading into the NESCAC qualifier next weekend at Bowdoin.”

The Jeffs will travel to Maine to the home of the Polar Bears this weekend to compete for a spot in the NESCAC tournament, and are looking to build off of strong individual performances last weekend.

Women
The women’s golf team finished eighth out of a 14-team tournament this past weekend in South Hadley at the Mount Holyoke Invitational. Rival Williams won, but the Jeffs left the tournament with high hopes and promise for the rest of the season.

Leading the Jeffs once again was first-year Jamie Gracie. She scored an 84 on day one, followed by an 82 on Sunday, to give her a weekend score of 166. She finished 22nd overall in the tournament.

Following Gracie was co-captain Kristen Lee ’14 who tied for 24th individually with a two-day score 167. Sooji Choi ’14 and Sarah Ressler ’16 both made important contributions as well.

“Last weekend was a little disappointing, but we’re not going to let it bring us down,” said co-captain Choi. “Most of us showed improvement and everyone on the team is dedicated to competing and having fun. We are a team with a lot of potential and spirit that will help us improve throughout the season.”
