Q: What program/what city are you participating in and what are you studying?
A: I’m at Trinity College Dublin with IFSA-Butler! I got here a couple weeks early to do the early Semester Start Up Program, which was a class all about Irish culture and history. I’m currently taking a few Irish and British history classes, forensic psychology and Greek and Roman mythology.

In September, Chris Tamasi ’15 was nominated for the 2014 Allstate American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team for his outstanding community service. But the accolades didn’t stop there. Last Monday, during his weekly visit to the Amherst Survival Center, Tamasi was surprised by his parents, friends, coaches and Amherst College representatives with a trophy reception ceremony.

“I was ambushed with emotion — dealing with the surprise, trying to make sense of what was going on and gathering my emotions so I could thank everyone,” Tamasi said.

On Friday, Oct. 24, the men’s lacrosse team ran nearly 16 miles up and down the “Seven Sisters” mountain range to help raise money and awareness for Students Bridging The Information Gap (SBIG). This nonprofit organization was founded by Matthew Killian ’17 of the men’s lacrosse team with the help of family and friends and provides technological and infrastructure resources for students in Ghana. Friday’s 16-mile “Sprint for SBIG” consisted of 14 peaks and more than 4,000 feet of vertical climb of rocky terrain along the Holyoke Range.

Q: What program/what city are you participating in and what are you studying?

Women’s tennis suffered its first loss to Williams in its first dual-match opener 5-4 Saturday, Oct. 11.

Coming off of last spring’s season as national runner-ups, starting off the season 0-1 is tough for the Lady Jeffs.

In the No. 1 spot, Vickie Ip ’18 and Sue Ghosh ’16 defeated Williams’ Curran and Pylypiv, 8-1. In the No. 3 position, Sarah Monteagudo ’16 and Safi Aly ’15 edged Atkinson and McDonnell of Williams, 9-7.

Q: What program/what city are you participating in, and what are you studying?
A: I’m at King’s College in London. While I’m here, I’m taking a math class, ethics, Greek philosophy and a European history course.

The women’s tennis team kicked off their fall season at the 2014 USTA/ITA New England Regional Championships this weekend at Williams College. Sue Ghosh ’16 and first-year Vickie Ip led the Lady Jeffs, seeded eighth and ninth, respectively.
