After a successful January that included eight wins and two ties, the Amherst men’s ice hockey team suffered two in-conference losses to start the month of February. These defeats came at the hands of Colby and Bowdoin, two foes that the purple and white had previously bested at home.

Amherst women’s golf traveled west this weekend to compete at Williams’ home course. In a field of 17 teams, the purple and white placed an impresive second. Though the team fell to Williams by 13 shots, Amherst beat out other NESCAC competitors such as Middlebury (fourth, 641), Hamilton (sixth, 674), Bowdoin (13th, 705) and Bates (15th, 802). The match was played at the 5,819 yard, 71-par Taconic Golf Club course in Taconic, Massachusetts.

In the team’s second match of the season, Amherst women’s golf came out strong again to claim second place in the Mount Holyoke Invitational. The purple and white played on the par 72 Orchards Golf Course in South Hadley, Massachusetts. The team placed second in a field of 14 teams, and three of its five scoring golfers placed in the top 10.

Amherst women’s golf came out with a strong tournament win in its season opener this past weekend. The team competed in the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational, hosted by Wellesley College, and captured its first team title in the tournament’s nine years of operation. Amherst also took the top two spots on the podium with first-year Morgan Yurosek earning first place and senior captain Jamie Gracie coming in second.
