With a win over Morrisville State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 15 on Hitchcock Field, the sixth-ranked men’s soccer team advances to the Sweet 16 for the sixth consecutive season and the eighth time in the past nine years. After the victory against Morrisville State, Amherst stands at 15-1-1 with a maximum of four games remaining in the season.

After earning two victories and scoring five goals in two games this past week, men’s soccer posted their strongest week of the 2014 season to date. With the pair of wins, the Jeffs improved to 4-0-1 on the season (3-0-1 in the NESCAC) and extended their NESCAC unbeaten streak to 24 games.

While the Jeffs tied the Camels at home in a double overtime game in 2013, Amherst would not settle for anything less than a victory this past Wednesday.

Early on in the game, midfielder Milton Rico ’15 gave the Jeffs a lead they would not relinquish against the Camels.

The Amherst men’s soccer team went to overtime in both of the squad’s first two matches of the 2014 season. On Tuesday, Sept. 2, in the season opener on the road against the New England College Pilgrims, the Jeffs prevailed in a 2-1 overtime grind. This past Sunday, the Jeffs tied the Middlebury Panthers, 1-1, to kick off NESCAC conference play, bringing Amherst’s record to 1-0-1 (0-0-1 in NESCAC play) to start off the season.

Amherst men’s basketball’s hopes of repeating as national champions came to end on Friday night in Salem, Va. at the hands of archival Williams in the Jeffs’ second straight trip to the Final Four and sixth appearance in the national semifinals since 2004. In the week leading up to Salem, Amherst earned two convincing victories over Plattsburgh State in the Sweet 16 and against Morrisville State in the Elite Eight to set up a match with Williams for the fourth time of the 2013-2014 season.

On Saturday, March 8, Amherst men’s basketball turned a two-point halftime deficit into a 63-51 win over the York College to advance to the NCAA Third Round for the fourth consecutive season. Now, the Jeffs, who sport a 25-3 overall record, stand just four victories away from repeating as National Champions.

Without the presence of both sophomore guard/forward Connor Green and sophomore forward Ben Pollack, Amherst’s depth was tested by a talented and athletic York squad.

With two more victories this past weekend at LeFrak Gymnasium, Amherst men’s basketball hit the 20-win milestone on the season, improving to 20-2 overall (8-1 in the NESCAC and 9-0 at home).

With four games this past week against tough competition, Amherst men’s basketball earned three victories and suffered a close conference loss that snapped their 25-game NESCAC winning streak. The Jeffs now stand at 18-2 overall and 6-1 in the NESCAC with three regular season games remaining before the conference tournament.
Amherst’s week began on Wednesday, Jan. 29 with a matchup against the Rhode Island College Anchormen at LeFrak Gymnasium.
