On April 4 the Office of Environmental Sustainability, the environmental studies department and the Green Amherst Project held a Power Dialog event in Paino Lecture Hall. The Power Dialog series, organized by Bard College’s center for environmental policy, aims to engage college students nationwide in discussions with state legislators about reducing carbon emissions.

Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and critic Margo Jefferson spoke about the experience of growing up and becoming aware of race in the Center for Humanistic Inquiry on Monday, Dec. 7. The event was focused on Jefferson’s recently published memoir, “Negroland.” Jefferson is a professor of writing at Columbia University and has worked as a theater critic for the New York Times. In 1995, she won a Pulitzer Prize for a work of criticism published in the New York Times.
Former head of the Greek Statistics Office Andreas Georgiou ’83 discussed his experience as the Greek government’s chief statistician and the current criminal charges against him during his speech at Converse Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
