The women’s volleyball team kicked off NESCAC play this weekend with games away at Trinity on Friday and Wesleyan on Saturday. The Firedogs claimed both games in straight sets, continuing the great form they showed off in the JWU invitational and jumping to the head of the NESCAC standings.

Following a second-place finish at last week’s Springfield Invitational, Amherst women’s volleyball returned to action in the Johnson & Wales Invitational this past weekend. The Firedogs dominated throughout, claiming four straight-set victories en route to first place.

Amherst opened the tournament on Friday night against hosts Johnson & Wales. Having already defeated JWU last weekend in straight sets, the Firedogs entered the match confident.

They claimed a 3-0 victory once again (25-18, 25-19, 25-13) to open on a commanding note.

For the second-straight year, Amherst’s volleyball kicked off its season at the Springfield Invitational and claimed second place in the tournament.

The Firedogs opened the tournament with a game against host Springfield College on Friday night. In a hard-fought, five-set battle, the Pride prevailed 24-26, 27-25, 26-28, 25-18, 15-11.
