Men

The Amherst men’s cross country team traveled to Ason, Ohio two weeks ago to take part in the 2014 NCAA Div. III national championships. The Jeffs qualified for this event as a result of their second place finish at regionals. At nationals, the Jeffs took ninth among 32 teams with 263 points. North Central (Ill.) won the event, followed by St.Olaf and Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Men
The Amherst men’s cross country team turned in an impressive two weeks. They traveled to Westfield, Massachusetts on Saturday, to compete in the ECAC Div. III Championships. Impressively, the men finished third in the 43-team field.

Steven Lucey ’17 had a very impressive race. His average mile time of 5:09.3 brought him to a first place finish in the 303-person field. Lucey is the first Amherst runner to finish first at this event.

Women
This past Saturday at Middlebury, the Amherst women’s cross country team took third place at the 2014 NESCAC Championships. The team averaged a 6K finishing time of 23:27.8, just behind Middlebury’s winning 22:46.4 and Williams’ second place (22:54.3). The Jeffs have finished in the top three at 11 of the past 12 NESCAC Championships.

The Amherst men’s cross country team traveled to Williamstown this past Saturday to take part in the Little Three Championships, hosted by NESCAC archrival Williams.

The Jeffs took second in the meet with 45 points, while Williams took home the title with 19 points. Wesleyan was last in the trio, with 68 points.

This past Saturday, the Amherst women’s cross country team parted ways to compete in both the Keene State College Invitational and the Paul Short Invitational held at Lehigh.

At the Paul Short Invite, the team placed fourth out of 40 teams. Bucknell won the event with 81 total points, and Marist (136), Holy Cross (236) and Amherst (249) were close behind.

Men
This past Saturday, the Amherst men’s cross country team traveled to Williams to compete in the Purple Valley Classic. Thanks to Mohamed Hussein ’18 and his fifth place overall finish, the Jeffs took fourth place in the 21-team event.
