On Saturday, Nov. 23, Dan Crowley ’16 of the Amherst men’s cross country team took to the trails in Hanover, Ind. where he competed in the individual bracket of the NCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country Championships.
Crowley’s race slated him 175th in a 275-person field. He ran 2K in 6:19, 3K in 9:26 and 6K in 19:33.
“He put himself in great position through the first 5K and then was battling some cramping issues in the later stages which affected his finish” said Coach Erik Nedeau. As a result, Crowley completed the 8k in 26:25.50 with a 5:19 mile pace.
The Amherst Women’s Ice Hockey team opened up its 2013-2014 campaign with two wins over Hamilton this past weekend. Thanks to their success this weekend, the Jeffs opened up their season with a 2-0-0 NESCAC as well as overall record.
Men
The Amherst Men’s Cross Country team took eighth in a 50-team field at the NCAA Division III New England Championship this past Saturday.
The University of Southern Maine hosted the event, but the NESCAC was by far the most successful, placing seven teams in the top ten. Williams took first with 77 points, Middlebury followed with 78 points and MIT took third with 113 points. Rounding out the top eight were Tufts (142), Bates (158), Colby (163), Bowdoin (177) and Amherst (216).
Men
The Amherst Men’s Cross Country team had an impressive showing at the ECAC Championships this past Saturday at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I.
Placing three runners in the top fifteen, the Jeffs took third place amongst 36 teams. Coach Erik Nedeau noted, “We had a somewhat disappointing NESCAC race, but we did what we needed to last week to be fresh and recovered.”
The NESCAC took home the top six team spots. With the top three overall finishers, Williams took the top title with 26 points.
Men
This past Saturday the Amherst men’s cross country team competed in the NESCAC Championships at Harkness Memorial Park in Waterford, Conn. The Jeffs finished seventh overall at the event.
Williams placed three runners in the top ten and subsequently won the NESCAC title with 51 points. Middlebury took second with 62 points, followed by Tufts in third with 103 points. Trailing these top three teams were Bowdoin (114), Colby (117), Bates (148), Amherst (180), Conn. College (201), Hamilton (234), Wesleyan (258) and Trinity (353).
Men
On Saturday, Oct. 19, Wesleyan Univ.hosted the Little Three Championships, where the Amherst men’s cross country team took to the trails against archrivals Wesleyan and Williams.
The Jeffs finished second behind Williams (25 points), whose five scoring leaders all finished in the top-10. With three runners in the top seven, Amherst took second with 37 points, and Wesleyan followed with 57 points.
Men
Amherst men’s cross country travelled to Williamstown this past weekend for the Purple Valley Classic. Amherst placed seventh overall out of thirteen teams at the race. MIT placed first (41) followed by Williams (59) and Middlebury (60).
