The Amherst softball team heads into the upcoming season looking for its first playoff berth in six years after being shutout of the NESCAC tournament five times since 2006. With the return of its top four hitters and two best pitchers and the addition of a promising first-year class, the Jeffs are confident they can accomplish that goal.

Leading by just two points at halftime, the women’s basketball team used a second half burst Saturday night to defeat Babson College, 61-48, in the second round of the NCAA tournament. On Friday night, the Jeffs dominated on the court with 11 different players scoring in the 84-30 victory over St. Joseph’s in the first round.

On Sunday afternoon, the Amherst women’s basketball team captured its third consecutive NESCAC Championship with a decisive 65-39 win over Tufts Univ. The Jeffs earned a 66-52 victory over Colby College in the semifinal game on Saturday en route to their fourth title in the past five years.

An explosive second half helped the top-ranked Amherst women’s basketball team down eighth-seeded Trinity College, 94-59, on Saturday in the NESCAC quarterfinals. Shannon Finucane ’12 became just the 13th player in Amherst history to join the 1,000-point club with seven points in the playoff victory.

On Saturday, the women’s basketball team closed out its perfect regular season with an 80-50 win over Middlebury after defeating Williams 70-55 on Friday night. The win against Williams marked the Jeffs’ 32nd consecutive win in conference play, setting a new NESCAC record.
