The Amherst men’s lacrosse team suffered a hard fought loss to Middlebury this past weekend in Vermont. They trailed by as many as seven points during the game, but clawed back in the final minutes to come within three goals of the Panthers.
Middlebury kicked off the scoring with three quick goals in the first quarter. Senior Kane Haffey interrupted this initial run on an assist from first-year attacker Evan Wolf. At the end of the first quarter, Amherst trailed 4-1.
The Amherst baseball team faced a busy schedule last week, coming away with three wins and one loss. They started with a comeback win over Springfield College on Wednesday, March 30, 10-7.
Outfielder Anthony Spina ’17 was named NESCAC player of the week after going 7-for-14 from the plate along with .611 on-base percentage and a .786 slugging percentage. Spina also scored six runs to go along with three RBIs and three stolen bases for the week.
Every Tuesday between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., a campus tour group usually enters Keefe Campus Center. The tour typically stops right in front of the door to the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC). The MRC door is glass, so the room is generally visible to the outside. However, in those moments, the door transforms into something more — that glass door becomes a window. This transformation changes both the intention of the room and the relationship between those prospective parents and students and the Amherst students in the MRC.
The No. 8 Amherst men’s tennis team fell short to No. 17 Tufts this Saturday afternoon in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, losing 7-2 in the match. The purple and white is now 10-4 overall and 2-1 in NESCAC play.
Anton Zykov ’17 earned the only singles win of the day for Amherst, finishing 6-4, 6-2 in a decisive win over Tufts’ Nik Telkexzhiev.
In the number two singles spot, senior Michael Solimano played Jay Glickman to three sets, but ended up losing 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 to surrender the point to Tufts.
