The Amherst College women’s ice hockey team kicked off the 2015-16 season with a two-game sweep over Connecticut College in its season opening weekend. The purple and white defeated the Camels 1-0 on Friday, Nov. 20, and then secured the series with a 4-1 win on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Captain Erin Martin ’16, as well as assistant captains Eileen Harris ’16 and Caroline Bomstein ’16, led Amherst to their victories. Impactful junior and sophomore classes are back, and a strong first-year group will help in the hunt for a NESCAC title.
After a decisive victory over rival Williams on Saturday, the Amherst College football team claimed the 2015 NESCAC championship and topped off an undefeated 8-0 run.
With the win, Amherst capped off back-to-back undefeated seasons, extended its consecutive win streak to a record 19 games, and secured the Little Three Championship. The senior class finished its run as one of the winningest classes in Amherst program history finishing with a 29-3 record, and going 4-0 against Williams in “The Biggest Little Game in America” match up over its four years.
The Amherst College football team extended its season record to 7-0 and increased its consecutive win streak to 18 games, with a 16-7 win over Trinity on Saturday. Despite Trinity’s early lead, the Jeffs were able to clinch the win and continue on the journey of seizing the NESCAC title.
The Amherst College football team pushed its win streak to 17 games, a program record, after two wins over Wesleyan and Tufts in the last two weeks. The Jeffs beat Little Three rival Wesleyan on homecoming weekend, 27-18, and notched a 32-7 win on the road over Tufts on Halloween.
The Amherst College football team extended its win streak to 15 consecutive games after a 31-13 defeat of Colby on Saturday afternoon. The Jeffs set a team record for the most consecutive wins in program history, and have won 20 straight games against the Mules. Amherst progressed to 4-0 on the season, while Colby dropped to 0-4.
The first 15 minutes of play were uneventful, and both Amherst and Colby were forced to punt on each drive. Despite a slow start to the game, the Jeffs managed to get things rolling in the second quarter.
The Amherst College football team sealed another win on Pratt Field Saturday afternoon, improving to 3-0 on the season and extending its winning streak to 14 consecutive games. The Jeffs shut down NESCAC rival Middlebury in a 24-7 win that involved strong efforts all over the field.
The Amherst College football team was unaffected by the poor weather during the first home game of the season Saturday afternoon. The Jeffs collected more than 500 yards for the second week in a row in a definitive 37-6 win over Bowdoin. The win brings Amherst to 2-0 on the season, while the Bobcats fall to 0-2.
