The men’s golf team finished seventh this past weekend in the NESCAC Qualifier held at Hamilton. Middlebury won the weekend with a total score of 599, followed by Hamilton, Trinity and Williams. These four teams advanced to play for the NESCAC championship this weekend.
Josh Moser ’15 had Amherst’s lowest score of the contest, with a two-day total of 157. First-year Dan Langa also had a solid performance, as he shot 80 on both days. Jarvis Sill ’15 finished six strokes behind him, while Sam Procter ’18 and Liam Fine ’17 took the final two scoring spots.
The women’s golf team snagged a third place finish over the weekend at the Middlebury Invitational hosted at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course. The rival Ephs took first place with a two-day score of 619, while Amherst totaled 672 for the weekend.
“The team is excited we were able to earn third place and not drop in our standing after day one,” said head coach Michelle Morgan. “I think each play left everything they had on the course. Their mental games are getting stronger each time they step on the course.”

The men’s golf team placed 15th this past weekend at the Williams’ home course of Taconic Golf Club Champ Course in Williamstown, MA. RPI finished in first place with a two-day score of 652, and Williams and Skidmore follwed RPI and finished tied for second, while Middlebury and St. Lawrence took the next two spots.

The men’s golf team opened up their season this past weekend at the Trinity Invitational, where they finished in 10th out of 13 teams. The Trinity A and B teams took first and second, respectively, while a number of out-of-conference schools, such as Nichols and Babson, took the next few spots.

The Amherst men’s golf team is looking to follow up its spring campaign with a strong showing this fall. The Jeffs graduated two seniors, but they are returning a solid core and will look to add to that group with three incoming first-years. Jack Arena ’83, Coach of the Year in 2010, will be returning for his 21st season as the Jeffs’ head coach.
This past weekend, the now 12th-ranked Amherst men’s lacrosse team made program history, earning both their first NESCAC semifinals and finals appearances. In the conference semifinals on Saturday, the third-seeded Jeffs upset second-seeded Wesleyan 12-8 to advance to the championship finals the next day, where they would face top-seeded Tufts. Amherst ultimately lost to the Jumbos, but the team’s accomplishments this season earned them an at-large bid for the Div. III NCAA Tournament.
