The Amherst men’s lacrosse team had a stellar performance against their rival Ephs this past weekend. Williams, coming off a big win over seventh-ranked Tufts in their previous game, stepped onto the new Pratt Field last Friday night with hopes of continuing their success.
The 18th-ranked men’s lacrosse team traveled into Medford, Mass. this past Saturday for a game at eighth-ranked Tufts, one of the strongest NESCAC teams in the conference. Both teams were 9-2 on the season going into the game. Behind a strong offensive outing, including two seven-point performers, the Jumbos snapped the Jeffs’ three-game win streak.
The men’s lacrosse team played three important NESCAC games in the past two weeks. The Jeffs had a one-goal loss to Middlebury, followed by two big wins over Wesleyan last Wednesday and Colby this past Saturday. Amherst is now 4-2 in the NESCAC and 8-2 on the season.
The men’s lacrosse team trekked up to Brunswick, Maine this past weekend to play the Polar Bears in their second NESCAC game of the year. Though the game was hotly contested, it was Bowdoin who managed to edge the Jeffs in the final minutes of the game to earn the 17-15 win. The Jeffs fell to 1-1, while Bowdoin improved to 3-0.
The first quarter of the game appeared to be heading toward a defensive struggle, with Amherst going up 2-1. Both teams were ringing up points in the second quarter, as each team managed six goals, making the game 8-7 at the half.
The men’s ice hockey team’s season came to a close this past weekend in a thrilling double overtime showdown in the NESCAC Championship game. The Jeffs took down the Ephs on Saturday to advance to the finals, where they faced off against the Bowdoin on Sunday. The latter game resulted in some of the best hockey of the entire year.
The second-seeded Amherst men’s ice hockey team started their NESCAC tournament off on the right foot with a win against seventh-seeded Conn. College on Saturday at Orr Rink. Despite trailing late in the third, the Jeffs rallied and put home three consecutive scores to come out triumphant with a 4-2 victory against the Camels.
The Amherst men’s ice hockey team finished their season by splitting a pair of away games at Middlebury and at Williams. Closing out the regular season on a high note with a 4-1 win over archrival Ephs, the Jeffs locked up the second seed in the NESCAC tournament.
